GIS at CMU started in April 2002 with an Aerial Photograph that was orth-rectified to be accurate to +/- 6 inches. The coordinate system used for all current data is the Lambert Conic Conformal Projection of the Michigan State Plane Coordinate System (MiSPCS), North American Datum (NAD) 1983, HARN corrected in International Feet. All shape data has been created based off of this Aerial photo and where necessary field verified with GPS and manual measurements.
